An open exchange where the patient holds the keys.
AfriMed HIE is an initiative by Tandika Technologies — an innovative, open interoperability network designed for the entire health ecosystem.
Health data that moves with the patient.
In most of Africa, a patient's record stops at the door of the facility that created it. Clinicians make decisions without context. Public health officials chase data that arrives months late. Insurers pay claims they can't verify. Pharmacies stock out while neighbouring facilities throw away expired medicine. AfriMed HIE was built to change that.
Connect first. Replace nothing. Improve everything.
We do not believe in ripping out the systems facilities already trust. AfriMed HIE is the interoperability layer; AfriMed EMR is one connected node — for facilities that don't yet have a digital system. Both are built on open standards (FHIR, HL7, OpenHIE) and open to any actor — public, private, NGO, or innovator — who wants to exchange data responsibly.
Patient first. Provider second. Platform third.
- • Patient data follows the patient — protected by consent and audit.
- • Providers see the right information at the point of care.
- • Facilities connect without replacing what works.
- • Public health leaders get real-time insight, not retrospective spreadsheets.
- • Supply data is connected to care delivery.
- • Patients remain in control through consent, privacy, and audit.
